This is quite an old post that I never finished…so here it is. Only a few months late…

Peter had a few weekends of work in Sydney, so we thought why not spend some time up there as a family?! And away we went!

While being in Sydney we made incredible use of our Merlin Annual Passes, taking the kids to the Aquarium, Wildlife Park, Centre Point Tower Eye, and Madame Tusards many times over. We have also enjoyed the busses, ferries, trains and public parks.

In this part one, I will be featuring the highlights from the Aquarium ? and the Wildlife Park ? only.

Wildlife Sydney Zoo

Firstly, the Wildlife Park… I was so impressed the first time I came here. I was amazed that all these animals lived in this seemingly tiny building in the city. It’s so much bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside!

The butterfly enclosure is pretty magical. And hot! The kids had such a fun time trying to get the butterflies to land on their head or hands.

And I had such a fun time trying to get an epic time-lapse of a butterfly taking off!

(I can’t find the Time-Lapse atm, but intend to upload it when I do. It was gorgeous!)

Next the baby crocs. Don’t they look like they would make a great pet?! I think they were about as long as my arm, so I imagine that fingers would be no problem for them to bite off…?

They had some beautiful snakes. In between talking with the kids about how beautiful they are, I kept reminding myself to teach them that they are dangerous. And that if you see one in real life – Don’t touch it!!! Get outta there!!!

Look at the colour of this one!

img_0308While we were there, we were so lucky to see a very riled up male Koala. He was pacing up and down and round and round his tree for a good half an hour until we moved on. I’ve never really seen them move that much before. In the past, I was always lucky to see them climb just a tiny bit! So it was a real treat!

(I will upload a video of the koala jumping from tree to tree…again when we go home back to my laptop ?)

Sealife Aquarium

My other favourite place is the Aquarium. It is a seriously magical place, very soothing and calming….as long as you don’t go on a public holiday in school holidays…Then it’s the worst place on earth! We only did that once. Haha… Never. Again.

But if you are able to go on a calmer day…you will see some amazing things and enjoy the experience instead of simply surviving it.

Wow right?! It’s movements were mesmerizing.

The twins were able to have a turn on the ‘feed the fish’ game….not sure what they were feeding the shark in this pic.

All of the displays are presented so beautifully. I love that with the annual pass, we can race through on some days and really take our time on others.

This is the final tank, and it is set upwith seating so you can watch as long as you like. It’s so peaceful and relaxing and doesn’t feel like you’re in the city at all!

As you can see, with these passes, it didn’t matter if Pete had a meeting, I could take the kids and be in another world for a time until he was free again. We really loved it every time and there is always something new to learn and see.

I’m not sure about you, but I think for us, it was definitely money well spent!!!
